Teaching and Credentials
Marcus SorensenMarcus Sorensen teaches psychology and neuroscience to students, counsellors and therapists. At university he has led seminars in psychology and study skills for undergraduate and postgraduate students, alongside doctoral research in neuropsychology.
For psychotherapy schools and training institutes he has taught counsellors and other professionals in psychology, neuroscience and therapeutic approaches, and written the teaching materials for the courses he directed. Through his own practice as a psychotherapist and group facilitator he leads workshops and seminars on psychology, neuroscience, counselling for children and young people, and complementary healing.
In 2016 he was an associate trainer on the Metropolitan Police's Mental Health Awareness and Safeguarding Training programme. Over ten weeks he led 23 full-day sessions in person, in police stations and partner venues across thirteen London boroughs, teaching around 500 police officers, and some social workers, to recognise early signs of mental ill-health in young people affected by gangs.
His training and ordination as an interfaith minister also prepared him to give inspirational talks and to facilitate groups of a more spiritual and transpersonal nature, including ritual and ceremony.
His teaching began in digital design. He taught web design and multimedia software to adult learners at an art college and a further education college, and the management of digital projects to heads of department at a national gallery.
